The Lombardy

Property Description

A legendary hotel, The Lombardy captures the spirit of an age when elegance was de rigueur. It was built in 1926 by the noted publisher and collector, William Randolph Hearst, and remains today a sophisticated, private oasis on mid-Manhattan’s fashionable East side. The spacious rooms and suites, complete with fully equipped kitchens and marble baths, are each individually decorated.

Knowledgeable travelers seek out this luxury New York hotel for the personal attention The Lombardy affords them: white-glove attended elevators, messages delivered by bellman or on multi-line data phones, a concierge, valet, seamstress and hairdresser. There is a fully equipped business center, a complimentary fitness center and a full-service hair salon on property.

The Lombardy is home to the critically acclaimed Harlow, a seafood-based restaurant with global influences by Richie Notar. Ninth Street Espresso coffeehouse offers hand-crafted espresso drinks, and guests of The Lombardy will be treated to a complimentary drink and pastry of their choice every day of their stay. Banquet space is also available.

The hotel’s location is ideal: near corporate offices and leading law firms, The Lombardy is a short walk from Trump Tower, Bloomingdale’s, Tiffany’s, Saks, Rockefeller Center, Central Park, and the many tempting boutiques along Fifth and Madison Avenues.

Music and theater aficionados will find The Lombardy an ideal base from which to enjoy world-class performances at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall and the Theater District.

Dining

Harlow: Drenched in glamorous details and a fast favorite of critics and celebrities alike, Harlow is the solo restaurant debut of Richie Notar of Nobu and Studio 54 fame. The restaurant, located on The Lombardy’s ground level, focuses on global cuisine with a tasteful emphasis on seafood. Among its signature dishes are a seafood pie in a warm puff pastry bubbling with clams, mussels, lobster and more; turbot a la plancha with manila clams and salsa verde; a crispy frito misto; and a delicious full raw bar. Harlow’s sophisticated design blends The Lombardy’s Old New York architecture, including the original chandeliers and intricate mouldings, with a decidedly modern flair.
