Donna Camilla Savelli Hotel

Property Description

A small architectural jewel in the heart of Rome’s Trastevere neighborhood, the Donna Camilla Savelli is located in a 17th century convent designed by the famed Francesco Borromini. The convent and its adjoining church were founded in 1642 by Farnese noblewoman Camilla Savelli, whose name now graces the hotel. Just steps from the door are some of the city’s most fabled attractions, from Campo de’ Fiori to Piazza Navona, Vatican City and the Colosseum.

An exquisite renovation has fashioned stylish guest rooms — each entirely unique — from the original nuns’ cells, while retaining Borromini’s architectural style and Baroque period details. Ancient and modern blend seamlessly here, with antique furnishings simply and artfully arranged beneath exposed wooden beams. Windows open to stunning views and, at sunset, let in a magical glow that settles throughout the hotel. Among the 78 accommodations are a handful of specialty suites, including the Premiere Suite, embellished by an antique rose window and with a large terrace from which guests can enjoy the charm of the ancient convent and adjoining church.

From the hotel’s roof garden, guests are treated to panoramic views as they enjoy a glass of wine. At street level, a courtyard garden, graced with a Baroque period fountain, serves as the ideal setting for exclusive social events or a quiet moment with a good book. The hotel’s complimentary breakfast buffet provides a hearty start to a day of exploration in the Eternal City.

Dining

The Donna Camilla Savelli offers a breakfast buffet daily, room service, and a full-service bar. From the roof garden, guests can enjoy a glass of wine complemented by panoramic views of the Eternal City.

Meeting and Events

The hotel accommodates gatherings of up to 250 in a selection of indoor and outdoor event spaces. The largest, Gran Sala Borromini, was originally a convent dining room and dates back 700 years. Ideal for meetings, receptions and gala dinners, it boasts original details including walnut wall and ceiling panelling and a fountain designed by Borromini.

There are five additional meeting rooms, two cloisters, and two terraced areas. The hotel offers a full array of meeting services and equipment and all meeting rooms have WiFi internet access.

Nearby Attractions

Within a short walk of the hotel are many of Rome’s top attractions, including Campo di’ Fiori, Piazza Navona, Vatican City, and the Colosseum. Just steps away are the lively restaurants and cafes that have made Trastevere one of Rome’s most sought-after neighborhoods.
