Villa Armena

Property Description

In the heart of Tuscany, just 20 minutes from Siena, Villa Armena charms guests with its rich sense of history, and the intoxicating sights and scents of the Tuscan countryside–from stands of cypress, pine and olive trees to rolling hills with endless rows of vineyards. Originally the country residence of the noble Malavolti family, this Renaissance-era estate dates back to the first half of the 16th century and its original oak beams and red brick are lovingly preserved.

Villa Armena’s scale, with only 10 guest accommodations, ensures an intimate and highly personalized guest experience. Each of its guest rooms and suites are entirely unique in their decor, with windows opening to views spanning from the villa’s own Italianate garden to the undulating hills of the Crete Senesi region.

Guests can spend the day exploring the charming streets of Buonconvento and getting to know its locals, challenging themselves to a championship round of golf at their choice of four of the region’s finest courses, or simply relaxing with a glass of Brunello by Villa Armena’s inviting outdoor pool. At dinner, guests can savor sophisticated cuisine crafted from the finest locally sourced ingredients at The Sorbo Allegro and afterwards gather in the Living Room for a glass of exceptional Italian wine or grappa while gazing over the beautiful Tuscan landscape.

Dining

The Sorbo Allegro (The Merry Rowan): Named for the hundred-year-old tree that welcomes guests to its garden, Villa Armena’s restaurant serves sophisticated locally sourced fare of the highest quality complemented by an exceptional wine list focusing on lesser-known, smaller Italian vineyards. The presentation is elegant and the setting one of rustic charm with exposed brick and wood beams. Breakfast is served in the villa’s conservatory.

The Villa Armena Living Room:Within this inviting space, guests can gather after a day exploring Tuscany for a selection of vine da meditazione–wines to be enjoyed on their own, as well as a selection of grappa and the world’s finest spirits.

The Wine Cellar: Villa Armena’s wine cellar has been painstakingly curated and represents smaller vineyards with a passion for winemaking. Its vintages span the full range of Italy’s wine regions, from Valle d’Aosta to Calabria, including the islands.
