A Relais Castle Set Above the Hills of Assisi
Castello di Petrata – An elegant medieval fortress nestled in the Umbrian hills, offering panoramic views of Assisi and a timeless retreat.
History of Castello di Petrata
Built in 1340 along the historic Franciscan route between Assisi and Gubbio, this fortress evolved from a noble villa fortified for protection into a family-restored Relais. Since its acquisition in 1996 by Romualdo Landrini and Giuseppina Orbi, an extensive four-to-five year restoration returned the castle to its former grandeur—preserving original stone walls, wood-beamed ceilings, and medieval structure with reverence.
