Perched high in the Engadine, in the Swiss ski resort of Pontresina, The Grand Hotel Kronenhof provides world-class hospitality in a magnificent neo-Baroque setting surrounded by pine and larch forests. Opened as an alpine guest house in 1848 and transformed into a grand hotel at the turn of the 20th century, the legendary hotel, with 112 expansive rooms and suites, is one of the most architecturally significant in the Swiss Alps. A recent restoration has returned the Kronenhof to its original beauty.
Guests of the Kronenhof enjoy a multitude of warm and winter-weather recreation, from downhill skiing to sailing the Engadine lakes. Guests of the Kronenhof also enjoy complimentary green fees at the 9-hole executive course of the Kronenhof’s sister hotel – the Kulm Hotel, St. Moritz. Indoors, further delights await, including an array of tempting spa treatments and water features at the luxurious Kronenhof Spa.
Guests can spend a quiet hour reading the day’s news in the charming Blue Room, with its elaborate stucco work in soft pastels, or settle by the fire in the cozy Fireplace Lounge, or bowl a few frames in the hotel’s private bowling alley before joining friends for a traditional Swiss fondue.
Dining is a special treat, with choices ranging from the charmingly rustic Kronenstubli, awarded one Michelin star and 17 points by GaultMillau, to the majestic Grand Restaurant with its sumptuous buffets.
At the end of the day, guests retire to magnificently decorated guest rooms and suites, outfitted with every modern comfort. Plenty of windows allow sunlight to stream into these spacious and charming rooms in the daytime, and those facing south boast spectacular views of the Roseg glacier.
Restaurant Kronenstubli: Awarded 17 GaultMillau points and one Michelin star, this intimate restaurant serves the finest international cuisine and regional Engadine cuisine in a rustic setting enhanced by antique larchwood panels and original wood furnishings from the Grisons. Le Grand Restaurant: Sumptuous breakfast buffets and gala dinners are served under resplendent vaulted ceilings in the magnificent Le Grand Restaurant. The highlights of the sumptuous four courses are changed daily. In light of the hotel’s luxury and tradition, guests are asked to dress for dinner – gentlemen in a jacket or dark suit.
Children’s Restaurant “Rondelle”: In the evenings, young guests (from age 3) can enjoy their own supervised dining experience, with menu selections according to parents’ wishes. Reservations are essential.
Kronenhof Bar: Champagne, the finest cognacs, cocktails and more are served up by the hotel’s experienced barman in the neo-baroque setting of the hotel lobby and lounge, complete with phenomenal glacier views. The stylish salons of the Belle Etage are a hideaway for seminars and meetings, elegant receptions and individual functions. Rondo, the only modern Congress center in the Engadine, with a capacity of up to 400 persons, is situated only 50 meters away from the hotel. In cooperation with the Kronenhof, its up-to-date technical equipment ensures the success of the most demanding events.
